Father to the fatherless

In my Bible reading today I noticed how God has a special place in his heart for the Fatherless.

But you, God, see the trouble of the afflicted;
you consider their grief and take it in hand.
The victims commit themselves to you;
you are the helper of the fatherless.
~ Psalm 10:14 NIV

You, Lord, hear the desire of the afflicted;
you encourage them, and you listen to their cry,
defending the fatherless and the oppressed,
so that mere earthly mortals
will never again strike terror.
~ Psalm 10:18 NIV

In some Bible versions, fatherless is translated as orphans. But still, God always very specific about them. I guess this emphasizes the important role of fathers in our lives. I believe the world will become a better place if only fathers would step up to the roles God has given to them.

MEN -- single, married, youth -- I hope you realize how much influence you have to your children, your future children and to the world. Be careful to use this influence wisely. You yourself may be fatherless, but please break the chain. Don't make the same mistake. You don't know how much impact you can make to the people around you if you would just embrace your identity and act your role. The world needs more godly men to lead us. Be one. God has already placed in your DNA the attributes needed to enable you. Step up.

To the fatherless, may you find rest in God's comfort. God himself will be your father. And remember that He has a special place in his heart for you.

A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows,
is God in his holy dwelling. ~ Psalm 68:5
